Figurative Paintings

Initially Lawrence Chikwa was a figurative artist, though is now moving from figurative art to the free expression of his imagination. He captures the essence of familiar elements of western and African lifestyles as he observes and investigates cultural crises, celebrations, interactions, and influences. Though deeply inspired by such cultural exchanges, Lawrence is not ethno or afrocentric; he is part of a new breed of artists, a new generation, who are not afraid to question their past, present, or future.
